Erik Johansson – Street Illusions
Born in Sweden he now works as a full time photographer and retoucher in Berlin, Germany. He has worked on both personal- and commissioned projects creating astonishing photographs and incredible street illusions. His work not only captures realism but it also demonstrates an in depth understanding of perspectives. His bizarre and amazing photo manipulations have the capacity to suspend human disbelief and make the unreal effectively real.
He claims ” I don’t capture moments, I capture ideas . To me photography is just a way to collect material to realize the ideas in my mind. I get inspired by things around me in my daily life and all kinds of things I see. Although one photo can consist hundreds of layers I always want it to look like it could have been captured. Every new project is a new challenge and my goal is to realize them as realistic as possible.”
”Mind your step” is a street illusion at Sergels torg in Stockholm between 7-12 June 2011. It is created by photographer Erik Johansson.
